
REGISTRATION
Classes fill quickly so register early to avoid disappointment.
Registration is effective with payment of class fee. Full refund is
provided if class is cancelled by us. Should you need to cancel your
class, two weeks notice is required for refund of class fee or credit
note.
Fabrics for all classes are to be purchased at Whitby Fabrics Sewing
Centre. Classes are hands-on and new Husqvarna Viking sewing machines,
embroidery machines and sergers are provided for your use at no charge.
Samples of class projects are on display in the store.
Our goal is to always provide our students with a valuable learning
experience in a fun-filled, friendly, relaxing atmosphere. Come and join

BEGINNERS SEWING
Instructor: Elizabeth Darbyshire
This class is designed for beginners. It provides an opportunity for
students with no previous sewing experience to learn the basics of
sewing while working on a simple project…an A-line skirt, elastic waist
pants or sleep pants.
The course content includes: sewing machine basics, how to read and
follow pattern directions, proper layout of fabric and patterns, cutting
techniques, commonly used stitches, pressing techniques and garment
finishing techniques.

QUILTING
THROW QUILTS …. AN INTRODUCTION TO QUILTING

piecing methods and simple quilting techniques. Only basic sewing skills

JAZZ IT UP WITH TEXTURE!

Texture is everywhere and the new fashion looks feature lots of texture
accents. Come and use your Texture Hoop and your creativity to fashion a
playful Tote Bag. Your bag can be made of Denim, Faux Suede or other
sturdy weight fabrics. For your texture accents we have a selection of
fabrics to choose from, as well as “texture kits”. You can also use
cording made on your serger, heavier threads, ribbons and yarn. If
you’re planning on taking the Jean Jacket Class this would be a great
way to personalize your jacket for a true "Designer" look. Once you
start texturizing you’ll be hooked like we are!

PALAZZO PANTS

Warmer days are ahead so why not sew up a pair of light casual Palazzo
Pants. This style of pant features a fuller leg (flattering to all body
types), invisible side or back zipper and a mini waistband with a touch
of ease.
Palazzo pants are perfect for day or evening wear and can be sewn in a
variety of fabrics including silk, poly blends, crepe, linen and soft
cotton. They are wonderful with the new tunic tops or even a great T

CREATIVE PINTUCK VEST
Instructor: Susan Rodesky
Learn how to use that little foot with all the grooves that rarely comes
out of your accessories box! You will quickly discover that pintucks are
not exclusive to heirloom sewing as you use your pintuck foot in new &
interesting ways. During class, you will construct unique “pintuck
blocks” that will then be sewn together and used as your vest front (the
back is plain). Intermediate sewing experience is suggested.

BIAS SKIRTS

During the hot summer months, skirts are a comfy and cool wardrobe
essential.

in a soft flirty sheer fabric.
This class is done in 2 parts to allow “hanging time” before hemming.
The first session will deal with drafting and construction of the bias
skirt, and the second will deal with hemming.

OWNERS’ CLUBS |

FREE monthly club meetings are provided for anyone who has purchased
their embroidery machine, software or serger at Whitby Fabrics Sewing
Centre. Others are welcome to participate for a $50.00 monthly fee. All
students must pre-register for each club meeting in order to facilitate
seating and planning arrangements.
These clubs are designed to provide ongoing education to help you get
the maximum benefit from your embroidery machine, serger or software;
and to keep you informed of new products and new techniques.
